Today we turn to kind of a mash of two favourite genres: near future dystopia and cyberpunk. This is one of the longest in the series so far.

14 – Mermaids In Bali:

Riah left Bali after it was flooded by the ocean. She wanted to be a professional mermaid entertainer, with only a hand-me-down high tech tail for work and a prosthetic powered exobrace to help her walk. Nearly three years later she’s returned home to find it much the same, but much different.

Her younger brother, now barely a man, is involved in cleaning up the partially flooded island, while also being part of a gang. As she goes to work in the resorts and tries to reconnect family, she finds there is something much darker lurking in the waters and back ways of their island paradise.

This is story two in Volume 5, continuing the theme of spectacles. It is also story 5 in Book 2.
